As everyone knows times have changed and the way we used to go about marketing a website are getting useless and outdated. Things like directory submissions, social bookmarkings and article submissions are not giving enough boost to a website to rank it on the first page of google. Sometimes I feel I am bit late on the scene as I can read some old posts on SEO forums how easy it used to be to rank a website in past. Now with the algorithm changes and updates from search engines it is creating more issues for a person who is doing SEO of a particular website. Basics are still what they used to be, but nowadays everyone is already doing all the basics. In order to rank better it takes a bit more then just doing the basics. Yes basics should be right and should be done properly but then if you really want to rank for a competitive keyword in today’s market then you need to innovate.
Recently I was doing SEO for one of my client and it was really tough to rank him as all the competition websites were old and established websites with good authority in that niche. We tried all the basics and even did it bit more by putting in lots of hours of hard work. We could have ranked it yes but it would still have taken more time and more efforts from our side.
In end it was a simple solution that came to my mind. I was just sitting there staring at my PC and I thought let me check tdnam.com If you don’t know what tdnam is then it is a Godaddy domain auctions house. I tried searching for the keywords we wanted to rank for and it might have been a stroke of luck but I did found exact match .coms and some keyword variation .coms and .orgs. Price was a factor but some were really great deals and some were costly but they were exact matches too. Therefore I informed my client and we acquired those domains. They are currently in escrow so sometime next week we will be having them under our control.
Now what remains to think is that either to do a redirect stuff or to develop them and send some link juice from that places to the original site which we wanted to rank better. Lets see and yes I will post results of whatever the outcome is in my next blog post.
